What do you need to run it?
A current version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge, and a Google account to sign in with. No download, no browser extension, no plugin. It works the same on a phone browser as on a desktop one.

Does the analysis run in the browser or on a server?
On a server. The image is uploaded and analysed by an AI model, then the result comes back. It is not processed locally, which is why it works identically on a low-end phone and a desktop workstation.
Worth stating plainly because it has a privacy consequence: the photo leaves your device. It is not retained on our servers after the analysis, but it is transmitted, and that is a different guarantee from on-device processing. The privacy policy has the specifics.
One thing that does happen in your browser: if the photo still contains GPS coordinates, those are read locally first, and an exact location is used instead of an estimate.
How does the web app differ from the iOS app?
The analysis is the same. The difference is volume: the web version allows one free analysis per account, while the iOS app is built for repeated use. The web version needs no install; the app works better as something you return to.

Does it work on a phone browser?
Yes. The layout adapts to small screens and photos can be uploaded straight from the camera roll. On iOS, choosing a photo from Photos usually converts HEIC to JPEG automatically, so the format is rarely a problem.
If an upload is refused, the cause is almost always the format or the size: HEIC files shared as-is, or images over 10 MB. Re-saving as JPEG resolves both.
