Street View guessing game — a free GeoGuessr alternative

Drop into a random Street View panorama somewhere on Earth and work out where you are. 2 rounds, up to 5,000 points each, scored by how close your pin lands. It runs in your browser, needs no account and costs nothing.

How to play

  1. Look around the panorama. Drag to turn, scroll to zoom. Road markings, license plates, vegetation, the side of the road traffic drives on and the language on signs are all fair evidence.
  2. Click the world map to drop your pin. You can move it as often as you like.
  3. Submit. You will see how far off you were, what it scored, and where the panorama actually was.
  4. After 2 rounds you get a total out of 10,000.

How this compares to GeoGuessr

This is an independent game and is not affiliated with GeoGuessr. It is smaller by design, and honest about where it is thinner:

Frequently asked questions

Is this GeoGuessr?

No. This is an independent game built by GeoSpy AI. It is not affiliated with GeoGuessr in any way. It uses the same broad idea — identify where you are from a street-level view — and it is free to play with no account.

Is the game free?

Yes. There is no account, no download and no payment. Games are limited per day because each round loads a Google Street View panorama and that allowance is finite, but nothing is charged to you.

Why can I look around but not walk?

Movement is switched off on purpose. Stepping to a neighbouring panorama loads new imagery, and the free allowance that keeps this game free would not survive it. You can pan a full 360° and zoom in as much as you like.

How is the score calculated?

Each round is worth up to 5,000 points, decaying with how far your guess is from the real location. A guess within 150 metres scores full marks. Two rounds make a maximum of 10,000. Scoring happens on the server, so scores cannot be edited from the browser.

Can I find where a real photo of mine was taken?

Yes, but that is the other half of this site rather than the game. The GeoSpy AI photo analyser estimates where a photograph was taken from what is visible in it. The game is for practice and for fun.

Do I need an account?

No. Signing in raises your daily game limit, and that is the only difference. You can play immediately without one.

Want the same skill applied to a real photo?

The game gives you a panorama and asks where it is. GeoSpy AI does the reverse: give it a photograph and it estimates where the photograph was taken, from the landscape, architecture, signage and vegetation visible in it.
